Don't stand so close to me
It beats me why people in lines have to stand so close. Do they think that they will loose their place? Maybe they think the serial line jumper will cut in and ruin their day.
I like to make a point of using my space. I assume "my space" could be a radius of half a metre...? That's not much I think. It's about the length of half my arm, and a good distance to avoid any uncomfortable touching or brushing
I put one leg forward and lean back to regain my space. I also like to turn around and face the other direction, as if having a look, and then look surprised when they are so close (not that i couldn't feel your breath on my back).
Another tactic, my favorite, is to put my hand on my hip and turn my hips around. If I knock the close stander with my elbow, I apologise politely, I look to the ground at the space between us, look back at them and smile, hoping that they get the hint.
I also like to move ahead in the line, but leave my bag behind me to ensure I get that space behind me. I assume it annoys the close stander, as they seem so keen to move forward in the line.
Lines are a boring place to be......
P.S. not hours after writing this, I find myself in a queue of Indians. Somehow they feel it's OK to stand on top of you. Please get off my back.
